Welcome to Stellr Solar! By signing your solar agreement, you've taken an exciting step toward generating your own electricity and gaining greater control over your future energy costs.

We understand that installing solar is a major investment, and you deserve to know exactly what happens next.

From system design and permits to installation, inspection and activation, our team is here to guide you through the process.

Seven-Step Solar Journey

Step 1: Agreement Confirmation & Initial Deposit

Once your solar agreement has been signed, our team reviews the project information to confirm that everything is ready to move forward.

This includes your proposed system size, selected equipment, installation location, electrical requirements and any additional services included in the agreement.

For projects following Stellr Solar's standard payment structure, the initial deposit is $2,000. When a project relies on external financing, the payment structure, disbursement schedule, and repayment terms are strictly governed by the guidelines and legal agreements set by the lender or funding organization.

Payment Stages if no financing/lender is being used*

Step 2: Final Design & Engineering

Our design team finalizes the technical details of your system.

Depending on your project, this may involve reviewing:

  • Solar panel locations and orientation.
  • Roof or ground-mount conditions.
  • Electrical service and breaker panel capacity.
  • Inverter and battery compatibility.
  • Equipment mounting and wiring routes.
  • Electrical single-line diagrams.
  • Applicable structural and electrical requirements.

We may request additional photographs, documents or a site visit to confirm the installation details.

If any material changes are required, our team will discuss them with you before proceeding.

Step 3: Permits & Utility Approval

Before installation, the applicable electrical plans, permits and utility requirements must be addressed.

In Nova Scotia, projects typically involve Nova Scotia Power's electrical review and inspection process. Larger commercial installations may require additional interconnection reviews and approvals.

Stellr Solar coordinates the technical submissions and communicates with the relevant authorities.

Important: Utility approval timelines are determined by the utility and other reviewing authorities. While we actively coordinate the process, some waiting periods are outside our control.

We'll keep you informed when important project milestones are reached.

Step 4: Equipment Procurement & Installation Scheduling

Once the project reaches the appropriate approval stage, we arrange equipment procurement and installation scheduling.

Depending on your system, equipment may include:

  • High-efficiency solar panels.
  • Microinverters or string inverters.
  • Mounting and racking equipment.
  • Electrical protection and disconnect equipment.
  • System monitoring components.
  • Battery storage and backup equipment, where included.

When the required equipment and approvals are in place, our team will contact you to arrange an installation date.

We'll also explain any access requirements and expected electrical interruptions.

Step 5: Professional Installation

Our installation team completes the physical work according to the approved project design.

A typical project may involve installing the mounting system, securing the solar panels, completing electrical connections, fitting inverter equipment and carrying out preliminary testing.

If your project includes battery storage, ground mounting or electrical upgrades, additional work may be required.

Our team aims to minimize disruption and maintain a safe, organized work area throughout installation.

Step 6: Inspection, Commissioning & Activation

Once the installation is physically completed, the required inspections and final approvals must be addressed.

An authorized inspector may examine electrical connections, protective equipment, grounding, system labeling and other applicable safety requirements.

Occasionally, inspectors may request corrections or additional documentation. Our team coordinates the necessary follow-up.

After the applicable requirements have been satisfied, the system can be commissioned and activated.

Please do not attempt to switch on or modify solar or battery equipment before receiving the appropriate instructions and authorization.

Step 7: Monitoring, Handover & Support

Once your system is operational, we'll help arrange access to the monitoring platform supported by your equipment.

Depending on your system, monitoring may allow you to view:

  • Daily and monthly solar production.
  • Historical generation.
  • Individual panel or inverter performance.
  • Home or business consumption, where supported.
  • Battery charge and backup status, if applicable.

We'll also provide or make available the relevant operating and warranty documents.

Your solar system is designed to operate automatically, with very little day-to-day attention required.

How Long Does the Process Take?

Our typical project planning ranges are:

Project type

Typical timeline

Residential solar

Approximately 2–3 months

Commercial solar

Approximately 4–8 months

These are planning estimates, not guaranteed completion dates. Project complexity, utility reviews, inspections, equipment availability and weather can affect the schedule.

The physical installation itself is generally much shorter than the complete project process.
